Hotel parking in Australian CBDs: what we know and how to check

Of the 369 hotel-style stays in the CBDs of Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide on our map, only 24 list free parking. For most CBD hotels you'll pay a nightly rate, which booking sites rarely show up front. Here's what we know per city and how to check the real cost.

How to check the real cost

  1. Look for parking available in the stay's facilities. If it isn't listed as free, assume a nightly charge.
  2. Ask the hotel for the nightly rate, whether it's valet or self-park, and the height limit if you drive a van or 4WD.
  3. Compare with public car parks nearby. Operators such as Wilson Parking and Secure Parking publish overnight rates on their own sites.
  4. Add the parking cost to the room rate before you compare hotels. A cheaper room with paid parking can cost more than a dearer room with free parking.

We'll publish checked nightly parking rates per hotel as we confirm them, with the date of each check.
